Abstract:   (8874 Views)
Liquid fuel dimethyl aminoethyl azide (DMAZ) has been attended by many researchers as a new green fuel in recent years. Ssynthesis of the fuel has led to a process contains dehydration of DMAZ as a highlighted section. In this study, dehydration of DMAZ/water solution has been investigated by using four different zeolite membranes as HSOD, NaA, LTT and NaX that cover different pore sizes. Many aspects of synthesis procedure have been focused as α-alumina microfiltration support, zeolite nano crystals and hydrothermal secondary growth of zeolite membranes. Confirmation of synthesis has been performed by XRD and SEM analysis and manufactured membranes have been analyzed by pervaporation test and dehydration of DMAZ. The achieved results show NaX membrane couldn’t separate water from DMAZ solution because of its big pore sizes. On the other hand, the rest membranes had acceptable separation factors with different efficiencies. The best performance was found LTT and HSOD membranes from pervaporation performance factor and the highest separation factor points of view, respectively. Pervaporation performance index had a wide range from 3 for NaX up to 22400 for T type membranes
