The enhancement of performance with a decrease in sensitivity of the propellant, have been considered in energetic materials research and development centers. Therefore, efforts to remove nitroglycerin from the common formulations while maintaining the efficiency of the propulsion system has been made, Which led to a new technology so called Extruded Composite Low Sensitive Propellant (ECL). This method reduces the sensitivity of the propellant and increases safety. The propellant ballistic efficiency increases due to increased bulk density and energy content, ascending combustion behavior and reduced temperature sensitivity. This paper is introduced ECL propellants and their chemical and ballistic properties, compared with conventional propellants.
