Abstract
Combustion products of solid propellants burn again when mixed with atmospheric oxygen. This phenomenon called afterburning and causes a temperature increase in the plume with resulting increases in plume radiation, concentration of ions and free electrons. Free electrons can reduce energy of radar waves with resulting interference in guidance of guided missiles. In tactical rockets afterburning can reveal launcher position and missile trajectory that are not desirable, hence it is important to study of afterburning phenomenon. In this paper afterburning phenomenon, factors affecting on it, and methods that used for reduce this phenomenon was investigated.
