Nitrate ester plasticized polyether (NEPE) is a new generation of composite solid propellants which its high energy content in comparing with conventional formulations, has attracted many researchers in the defense departments, all over the world. First of all an introduction and history and importance of NEPE propellants will be discussed and formulation and combination of propellants components and binder system will be presented. Then the various application of NEPE propellant will be introduced. Functional characteristic of NEPE propellants including: Specific impulse and volumetric specific impulse is analyzed and compared with common propellants. The results show that this propellant with unique characteristics, high specific impulse high density and volumetric specific impulse or high efficiency ratio has many significant advantages than solid propellant witch make United States of America and other pioneer countries in military and airborne equipment to have a particular attention toward them and use these high energy propellant in most rockets and ballistic missiles
