For this purpose high energy-density materials (HEDM) are good candidate. In this paper, has been reviewed the recent developments in the field of High energy density materials (HEDMs) and investigated their criteria and requirements. Also study their safety and performance characteristics and the impact of molecular structure on their characteristics. This materials are classified in four type including, strained ring and cage compounds, nitrogen rich compounds, polynitrogen compounds and high energy metal-organic frameworks compounds. In comparison with traditional explosive materials such as TNT, HMX and RDX the high energy-density materials (HEDM) have better properties such as high density, detonation performance, high heat formation, low sensitivity. Modern HEDMs derive most of their energy I) from oxidation of the carbon backbone, II) from ring or cage strain III) and their very high positive heat of formation.
