Abstract:   (936 Views)
Hydroxyl Terminated Polybutadiene (HTPB) is one of the most common and widely used binders that have high solid loading and good mechanical property. A disadvantage of this binder is non-polarity, which reduces its compatibility with energetic and polar plasticizers, and oxygen balance of HTPB is very negative. Polycaprolactone is a polyester binder that has a polar structure and is compatible with polar plasticizer. Also, due to polyester structure, its oxygen balance is more suitable than HTPB, therefore, by combining these two binders as a copolymer, the disadvantages of HTPB are eliminated and its advantages are preserved. This copolymer is a polyol-polyester that is cured by di-isocyanates. Triblock copolymer of The PCL-HTPB-PCL is made by ring opening polymerization of caprolactone by HTPB as a macro initiator. This copolymer w:::as char:::acterized by (FT-IR) and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The investigation of the curing conditions showed that the copolymers cured with IPDI and N100 isocyanate in a ratio of 80 to 20 had suitable conditions. PCL-HTPB-PCL copolymer was found to be more compatible with Bu-NENA and TEGDN plasticizer than BTTN and TMETN.
