The method of foil embedding is employed in solid propellant motors with end-burning configuration, thereby significantly improving the burning rate of the propellants.
These foils provide such amplification by locally augmenting heat feedback from propellant combustion products to unburned solid material, with resultant increase in burning surface area. Burning rate would raise with the increase of conductivity coefficient and melt temperature of the foil. The embedded foils are single or multiple and by different forms (v-shaped, cylindrical and …).
In this article meanwhile discussed improving the burning rate of the propellants mechanism and parameters such as the effects of the type and thickness of the foil on the burning surface.
