Jet propellant 10, JP-10, is the latest synthetic product in the jet propellant series with several reports on the chemical and the physical properties. This synthetic single molecular fuel with suitable properties similar to Jet propellant 4, has ability to operate on longer distance. This difference leads to more attention at aerospace industries..
According to literatures, they are not much data about the physicochemical information of this fuel. Therefore, this study run to evaluate the solubility parameter, ( δ), of JP-10 by using swelling equilibrium curve of rubbery network. Evaluated results lead to report the amount of 14.63 (MPs)0.5 and 7.63 (Cal/cm3)0.5 for solubility parameter of JP-10. Comparing these data with the results of combined group contribution methods of Van Krevelen–Hoftyzer and Fedors, shows less than 2% differences on (MPs)0.5 units for the solubility parameter of JP-10.
This little and acceptable observed difference, between theoretical and experimental results, refers to simple molecular structure of JP-10. The absence of structural interactions, (like as hydrogen bonding, polar bonding and etc.), between the JP-10 structure lead to observe this suitable accommodation of present results.
