Strontium nitrate as a strong oxidizing agent in the structure of pyrotechnics reacts with fuel and produces light. Red light produced in the tracers due strontium nitrate is within the structure of pyrotechnics. The factors which may affect the particle size of strontium nitrate have been optimized using Taguchi method. The Functional conditions in experimental include strontium nitrate concentration, type of non-solvent, the method of adding a solvent to non-solvent, modifier type and modifier ratio were considered at double levels. The ANOVA exhibited that 85 % (w/w) as Sr(NO3)2 concentration, methanol as type of non-solvent, temperature in 5 ̊C, spraying as addition method, modifier type of MEK and modifier 1:4 ratio are optimal conditions for the production of Sr(NO3)2 nanoparticles. The average particle size of produced Sr(NO3)2 is about 38 nm.
